Tai Chi with Brian Muccio

Wednesday, June 16th - 12:00 pm - 12:45 pm 

Originating in ancient China, tai chi is an effective form of exercise for the mind and body. The ultimate purpose of tai chi is to cultivate the qi, or life energy, within a practitioner to flow smoothly and powerfully throughout the body. Known as “meditation in motion,” this low impact, slow-motion exercise goes through a series of motions without stopping, focusing on the breath and bodily sensations. Tai chi can be easily adapted for any fitness level or body type.

 

Zumba with Tara Mukasa

Wednesday, June 23rd - 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm 

Zumba involves dance and aerobic movements performed to energetic music. The choreography incorporates hip hop, soca, samba, salsa, merengue, and mambo. Squats and lunges are also included for additional body sculpt- ing and conditioning. Fun and energetic instructors boost energy while leading a well-rounded, heart-pumping workout designed to make employees sweat, laugh, and have fun!
 

Motivating Movement with Jessica Pate

Wednesday, June 30th - 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm 

This presentation discusses the latest research on the many benefits of exercise, from treating anxiety and depression to improving brain function. It explains the amount of physical activity necessary to achieve these different benefits and includes tips on how to include that activity in a busy lifestyle.

2CAL Lounge

The City National 2CAL Tenant Lounge will reopen Monday, June 14, 2021! 

We are very happy to announce that we will be reopening the 2CAL Lounge on Lower Plaza effective Monday, June 14, 2021.  The 2CAL Play Room will remain closed until further notice. 
 
The normal hours of operation will be Monday through Friday from 11:00AM – 2:00PM, and will be available for City National 2CAL Tenants only.

The 2CAL Lounge offers an indoor seating area and TV viewing and is located next to Pressed Juicery.  The massage chairs will continue to be available by reservation only (subject to availability), by contacting Client Experience Ambassador, Monica Bellevue, at mbellevue@corporateconcierge.com.

Thursday 6/17 - COLA 2021 Artist Fellow @neel.k.agrawal takes the stage at the iconic Skirball Cultural Center @skirball_la to present his collaboration with legendary Indian violinist and vocalist L. Shankar. ⁠

Agrawal is a multi-percussionist incorporating Indian, Middle Eastern, and jazz percussion with electronic textures and soaring vocals.⁠

He will be performing with L. Shankar, who has worked extensively over his 50-year career alongside Ornette Coleman, John McLaughlin, Peter Gabriel, Frank Zappa, and many more.⁠

Thursday 6/24 - COLA Artist Fellow Sarah Elgart  will present a site-specific dance performance at the Skirball Cultural Center in collaboration with ⁠@sophia_marks@sammypmc, and @carissasonghorian

Sarah Elgart has been at the forefront of dance in Los Angeles as a choreographer, director, and producer for many years. Elgart’s work engages audiences by transforming and catalyzing bus terminals, airports, museums, and more with movement, music, and media to make magic out of the mundane, allowing viewers to see “old places with new eyes.”⁠

On Thursday, July 1st, Dayramir González  will perform a live medley of original and traditional compositions rooted in Latin jazz and Caribbean rhythms. ⁠

Representing the next generation of Afro-Cuban jazz, Dayramir has made a name for himself as a leading international composer, orchestrator, educator, bandleader, and pianist.⁠ ⁠

Pride Publics -> Pride Publics: Words and Actions brings issues of LGBTQ+ community action, struggle and progress into focus through a series of 28 large-scale posters installed on the east side of Robertson Blvd, just south of Santa Monica Blvd. The works will be on view through July 1. More info here.

Melrose Trading Post -> This weekly flea market takes place every Sunday at Fairfax High school Starting at 9 a.m., and this week the event will host live musical performances onsite for the first time in over a year. Admission costs $5. More info here.

The Grove -> Enjoy a Paint & Sip complete with a glass of wine or cocktail right in the heart of The Grove every Tuesday 6-9 p.m. Tickets cost $50 and includes all supplies and drink.

The Huntington -> Enjoy the gardens during twilight hours Fridays through Sundays when The Huntington hosts Summer Evening Strolls from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. June through August. Advance tickets ($20 per adult) are required.
